MTA Plans To Sell Headquarters, 2 Other Buildings
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The cash-strapped Metropolitan Transportation Authority has announced the planned sale of three of its Midtown office buildings, including its headquarters.
The agency hopes to reap more than $150 million from the deal. The three 20-story buildings are located next to Grand Central Terminal.
The potential sales would impact 873 MTA workers who would be moved to a 30-story building the agency owns in the Financial District.
The MTA has laid off hundreds of workers and raised fares to close a multimillion dollar budget gap.
