MTA Increases Frequency Of L Trains, But FASTRACK To Cause Disruptions This Week
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Speedier service is in place on Sunday for Brooklyn subway riders.
Starting this weekend, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has stepped up the frequency of L Trains by adding 98 more round trips a week. The agency estimates less than five-minute wait times for trains during rush hour, and less than 10-minute wait times at night.
The new service will cost the MTA $1.7 million a year.
But it's not all good news for mass-transit riders.
The Lexington Avenue subway line will be hit with major service disruptions this week. Starting on Monday night, the MTA's FASTRACK maintenance program will resumes on the 4, 5 and 6 lines.
What does that mean for riders, exactly?
For four nights -- from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. -- service will be suspended between Grand Central Terminal and Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn in both directions.
