MTA 'FASTRACK' Program Beginning Monday Night For 8th Avenue Lines
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A commuter alert is in effect for subway riders commuting from the Upper West Side to downtown Brooklyn, as the MTA's "FASTRACK" maintenance program is beginning yet again. This time it's for the 8th Avenue lines.
Starting on Monday night, service will be suspended on the A, C and E lines from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Columbus Circle to Jay Street.

Repairs are expected to wrap up on Friday morning.
The MTA has said that this program will allow maintenance crews to accomplish more work in less time, as the MTA will get about two months worth of track work done in four nights.
Though many subway riders are unquestionably inconvenienced by the work being done, some understand that the program will help down the line.
"I know in the long run, it's going to benefit everyone," one man said. "But right now it's a complication because it puts people out of their way."
Others don't share such an optimistic view.
"I don't think it's a good thing, because it's just holding people up," a dissatisfied commuter said.
Work has already been completed on the 6th, 7th and Lexington Avenue lines.
