MTA Considers Putting Workers On Platforms To Control Overcrowding
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York City's subway system is more popular than ever, and that has MTA officials looking into how to handle the crowds.
As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, more and more subway trains are overcrowded and MTA board member Charles Moerdler understands how bad things are.
"You cannot fit more sardines in a sardine can," he said.

And the numbers bear this out.
"There were seven days in October of over 6 million people carried," MTA Chairman Tom Prendergast said.
Now, Prendergast is talking about putting employees on platforms to manage the crowds.
"So you actually apply overtime resources to control that element," he said.
Because when trains stay too long at a station it backs up the system.
