MTA Bus Rolls Backwards Into Intersection, Damages Parked Cars
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus rolled backwards into an intersection on the Upper West Side Wednesday afternoon, causing a chain collision of several vehicles.
As CBS2's Valerie Castro reported, a bus driver left an M96 bus parked at the corner of 96th Street and West End Avenue at around 3 p.m. Wednesday. According to the MTA, the driver did not properly secure the bus and it proceeded to roll backwards, hitting into one parked car.
The collision caused a chain reaction, causing several other parked cars to collide with some damages, the MTA said. No one was on the bus when the incident occurred, and there were no reported injuries.
The MTA later came out and put notices on the cars involved in the incident, informing owners of what happened. The MTA is also asking the car owners contact them, as well as the police, for more information.
