MTA Bus Driver Accused Of Driving Drunk, Fleeing Accident In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus driver was arrested this weekend, reportedly on charges of getting in to an accident while driving drunk and fleeing the scene.
Edward Sanders, 49, was arrested at 10:33 p.m. Saturday in the 106th Precinct in Queens, and was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
Police did not provide further details in a news release. But the New York Post reported Sanders was driving through Ozone Park, Queens in his personal vehicle and slammed into another driver near 149th Avenue and 96th Street.
Sanders and the other driver got out to exchange insurance information, but Sanders did not have insurance and decided to get back in his car and drive off, police told the newspaper.
Police caught up and arrested him a short time afterward, the paper reported.
No one was seriously injured in the crash, the paper reported.
