Mount Vernon Animal Shelter Overrun With Cats, Needs Adoptions
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The Mount Vernon Animal Shelter said Monday that it is overrun with cats and needs people to adopt the homeless pets as soon as possible.
"The city is not allowing us to take in any more cats due to the overcrowding, therefore leaving cats that need care, and a place to live, homeless and alone," the shelter said.
The shelter announced plans to post a picture of a cat in need of a home as soon as possible every couple of hours. They will be called "Please Be Hope" cats for adopting and even foster care, the shelter said.
The shelter, at 600 Garden Ave. in Mount Vernon, is offering cat adoption from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, for a fee of $40.
