Police Looking For Nikolai Rakossi In Stabbing Of Mother, Daughter In Sheepshead Bay
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police continued searching for a killer Monday after finding the bloody bodies of a mother and daughter inside a Sheepshead Bay apartment.
Police discovered the body of 27-year-old Larisa Prikhodko and her mother, 57-year-old Tatyana Prikhodko, at 2299 East 13th St., while responding to a missing persons report. Both women suffered multiple stab wounds to the face and abdomen.
Police are looking for Tatyana's live-in companion, Nikolai Rakossi. A source told CBS 2's Sean Hennessey a surveillance camera showed Rakossi entering the building, but not leaving.
Police suspect he left out the back door where the surveillance camera wasn't working -- something any resident of the building could have known.
"We have a channel where you can see the camera -- of all the camera angles," neighbor Armanda Petrillo said.
Neighbors were stunned by the discovery.
"It's overwhelming when something like this happens in a place where you live, where you have your kids. It's not a good feeling," said neighbor Roman Portnoe.
"She's a single mom. She was a good mom. She was living there with her mom and both of them were taking care of the baby," another neighbor said.
While Larisa Prikhodko lived at the apartment with her 2-year-old son, she had shared custody. The boy was staying with his father over the weekend. Police said Prikhodko had arranged to pick up her son on Sunday. When she failed to show up, the boy's father called police and reported her missing.
Larisa, a graduate of Long Island University and a registered nurse at Mt. Sinai, was often seen coming and going late at night or early in the morning.

The NYPD cordoned off the scene on Monday. They were interviewing several people at the building and hauling out several loads of evidence, including heavy-duty gardening tools.
"In the garbage room, I saw the investigators were looking at garbage," said neighbor Giedre Beciute.
Residents told CBS 2 that investigators went door to door overnight, showing a picture of a man who resident Peter Dynowski said he's seen before.
"I'm assuming that is the person they are looking for," he said.
Some neighbors said the newest murders remind them of the stabbing deaths of Yelena Bulchenko, 20, and her 56-year-old mother, Anna. Maksim Gelman pleaded not guilty last week to murder charges. He is also accused of killing his stepfather.
