Mosquito Spraying Continues On Long Island
NEW YORK (1010 WINS ) -- Mosquito spraying will continue Thursday on Long Island to prevent the spread of West Nile virus.
In Suffolk County, ground spraying is scheduled from 8:00 p.m. through 11 p.m. in Holtsville and Patchogue. Additioinal spraying will take place from 6:30 p.m. through 10:30 p.m. in Fire Island Pines, Water Island and Ocean Bay Park on Fire Island.
In Nassau County, spraying will be conducted from 7 p.m. through 5 a.m. in Great Neck and Kings Point.

It's recommended that you stay indoors when the trucks are spraying and remain indoors for an hour after they leave.
Chances of experiencing any health effects from spraying are quite low but officials advise residents to take the following precautions to reduce exposure: close windows and doors, turn off window fans, keep children's toys indoors, and bring your pets, their food, and water dishes inside.
