Police say she was driving drunk - her blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit - with her 5-year-old daughter in the car.
Police said the driver of the tanker was ejected and then the truck then hit a fence.
Fuel began leaking from the tanker and homes were evacuated because of a fear of fire.
"A lot of inconvenience. A lot of concern in the community. This woman drank significantly," said Nassau County police Lt. Kevin Smith.
Smith said they found an empty bottle of wine in her car.
She has also been charged under Leandra's Law for having her daughter in the vehicle.
The truck driver was not seriously hurt, and Lopez's daughter was not harmed.
