Mike Adams To Walk To Hometown Paterson In Uniform After Game If Broncos Win
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- If the Broncos win Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, safety Mike Adams isn't going to head to Disneyland.
No, he's going to stay in New Jersey -- in Paterson, to be exact.
The Paterson, N.J., native told The Denver Post that if his team takes home the Lombardi Trophy, he'll walk to his hometown, which is roughly 10 miles from East Rutherford.
As if that isn't crazy enough, he plans to do it while still in uniform.
"If we win the Super Bowl, I'm going to keep my helmet and pads on and I'm walking home," the 32-year-old told the newspaper.
If he gets tired of walking? Don't worry -- he has a contingency plan in place.
"After I get to the IHOP on Route 3, I'll start hitchhiking," Adams told The Denver Post. "But they'd probably think I'm just some crazy person."
Adams attended Passaic County Technical Institute in Wayne, N.J., and then played his college ball at Delaware. He made his NFL debut with the San Francisco 49ers in 2004 after going undrafted.
The veteran is in his second season with the Broncos following three seasons with the 49ers and five seasons with the Browns.
He played in all 16 games for the AFC champions in 2013, recording 64 combined tackles, a fumble recovery and an interception. He also had seven passes defended and two stuffs.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder had four tackles in the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots.
On a more serious note, Adams spoke solemnly about Paterson, which is known for its high crime rate.
"It can be almost like a cancer," Adams told the newspaper. "And I say that because the negativity in that place can be like a snowball rolling downhill."
