Police: LI Woman Arrested After Allegedly Hosting Wild Underage Party
HEWLETT BAY PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island woman is facing charges after allegedly throwing a wild underage house party on Saturday night.
Nassau County police went to a house on Ceder Avenue in Hewlett Bay Park after neighbors complained about possible underage drinking at the house, CBS2's Steve Langford reported. According to police, there were around 75 to 100 underage teenagers drinking at the home.
"Amazing, you guys missed out for sure," one party spokesperson told Langford. He added the charges were "definitely overstated."
Michelle Lankri, 20, was arrested at the scene and faces charges of violating the social host law, police said. It's unclear who owns the home or if any adults were home.
Several neighbors who don't want their faces on television tell said wild parties with underage kids is not uncommon in the area.
"There seems to be a feud between some neighbors so it was more like a revenge type of phone call," one local resident said.
Police said they received a number of calls about the party, but local security servicing the neighborhood declined to comment on the event.
Lankri is due in Hempstead court on February 10.
