Mets Unveil Blue Alternate Home, Away Jerseys
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Blue is the new black -- at least to the Mets.
The team unveiled its new, blue alternate look on Wednesday. Similar to the "Los Mets" jerseys worn in recent years, New York's new alternate home and away tops feature a deep blue with orange piping.
Johan Santana modeled the alternate home jersey in an image tweeted by the team. "Mets" and Santana's No. 57 were in orange with a white trim.
The alternate away jersey had "New York" and the player's number in gray with an orange trim. Both tops had a 2013 All-Star patch sewn on the left sleeve, as Citi Field will host baseball's best in next season's midsummer classic.
The team's much-criticized black jersey was phased out before the 2012 season, though there has been speculation it could soon return. The outfield walls at Citi Field were brought in and painted blue prior to this past season.
