Mets Starter Jonathon Niese To Have Follow-Up MRI On Left Shoulder
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- According to Kevin Burkhardt of SNY, Mets starter Jonathon Niese is scheduled to undergo a follow-up MRI on left shoulder on Thursday.
Niese was placed on the disabled list on June 21 with a partially torn left rotator cuff. In 14 starts in 2013, Niese is 3-6 with a 4.32 ERA. The 6'4" left-handed starter has struck out 49 and walked 33 batters in 77 innings pitched.
He is a career 38-38 pitcher with a lifetime ERA of 4.09. Mets doctors are hopeful Niese will not require surgery and recommended a strengthening program. Should he require surgery, Niese could miss a year.
