NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Freezing Mets fans packed the parking lot of Citi Field by the hundreds Monday morning for the team's spring training sendoff.

Mets faithful were rewarded for their loyalty with free ticket vouchers, tours and goodies, 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon reported.

Nick said he came from Jersey City, New Jersey, to "see the clubhouse, see the dugout, get some free tickets."

"It's better to be out at Citi Field right now," he said. "Die-hard fans, it doesn't matter what weather it is."

Free coffee and Mets doughnuts were also served.

"It's delicious," Kim from Jersey City said of her doughnut.

No Mets players were there, but Mr. and Mrs. Met posed for pictures with the many kids who had the day off from school and helped stuff a truck full of spring training gear to send to Port St. Lucie, Florida, where pitchers and catchers report Thursday.
