Mets Promote Vinny Rottino, Send Down Chris Schwinden
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The New York Mets have recalled catcher-outfielder Vinny Rottino from Triple-A Buffalo and optioned right-handed pitcher Chris Schwinden to the minor league team.
The Mets made the moves before Monday night's game at Pittsburgh.
The 32-year-old Rottino was with the Mets for a week earlier this month and went 0 for 4 in three games. He had a 20-game hitting streak this year in the minors.
Rottino played briefly for the Marlins last year and was with Milwaukee for parts of three seasons.
Schwinden was 0-1 with an 11.25 ERA in two starts for the Mets.
