Mets' Murphy Day-To-Day After Getting Hit By Fastball Against Detroit

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New York Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy has been listed as day-to-day after being hit on the hand by a fastball on Friday.

Murphy was hit by a pitch by David Price in the second inning against Detroit on Friday. X-rays on his right hand came back negative.

Murphy called it a "blessing"after finding out that his hand was not broken. He said his hand is "a little sore,'' but not as sore as he thought it would be.

Murphy said he will sit out the split-squad games Saturday and is unlikely to swing a bat until Sunday at the earliest.

The All-Star hit .289 with nine home runs, 57 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 2014.
