Mets Farm Team Gets Largest Scoreboard In Minors
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The top farm team of the Mets plans to install what franchise officials say will be the largest high-definition scoreboard in the minor leagues.
Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Buffalo Bisons officials announced Wednesday that the new $2.5 million video scoreboard will measure 80 feet long by 33 feet high, more than three times the size of the current scoreboard installed in 1999.
The Triple A franchise's owners, the Rich family, is paying for the new scoreboard, which will be installed in time for the 2011 season.
The owners have also spent nearly $1 million to replace the playing surface and drainage system at the city-owned Coca-Cola, which opened in 1988.
Officials also announced that the city will spend $750,000 to replace the downtown stadium's lighting system.
