Mets Expect David Wright Back In Lineup Friday
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — The Mets, possibly on the cusp of trading away slugger Carlos Beltran, are about to get some pop back in their lineup.
Declaring himself ready to go, Mets third baseman David Wright is expected to come off the disabled list Friday.
"He said he's healthy," manager Terry Collins said on Thursday. "He's a five-time All-Star. Those guys know themselves."
Collins said he plans to have Wright in the lineup when New York starts a series at Florida.
Wright, out since mid-May with a stress fracture in his lower back, is batting .226 with 18 RBI on the season.
"He's been out for three months," jabbed Collins. "He ought to be rested."
