Mets, American Red Cross Partner To Host Blood Drive At Citi Field
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Mets are out of town this weekend, but their ballpark has been put to very good use on Saturday.
The team and the American Red Cross are hosting their second annual blood drive today at Citi Field. The event runs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., and the American Red Cross said it only takes about an hour to provide help that can save a life.
"Blood has a shelf life, so the Red Cross has to continuously replenish it," Donna Morrissey of the American Red Cross told CBS 2. "So whether it's times of disaster or just a regular day where someone goes into the hospital, we need to make sure that the blood is available."
Every donor will receive two tickets to the Mets' game against San Francisco on April 23rd. They'll also have a chance to win tickets to one of this year's Subway Series games against the Yankees.
