Mets Activate David Wright From Disabled List

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Mets have activated captain David Wright from the disabled list.

Lineups for Friday night's game in Philadelphia have not yet been announced.

Wright was placed on the DL with a strained right hamstring on Aug. 3.

"I feel as good as I can," Wright said this week, according to the team's official website. "It's tough being away from doing those types of things for so long and all of a sudden doing that and trying to rush everything as soon as possible."

Third place is still in reach for the Mets (68-84) with the Phillies (71-81) just three games ahead of them in the NL East. Wright said shutting it down with New York eliminated from playoff contention was never an option.

"If I'm able to play, I want to play," the third baseman said. "I don't understand ... somebody that's healthy, that can play, that doesn't play."

The team also announced that infielder Wilfredo Tovar was recalled from Double-A Binghamton.
