Passengers sweating from the 100 degree heat inside the cars received no information from conductors, says Jim Cameron of the Connecticut Commuter Rail Council.
"Somebody could have died in that heat because the conductors weren't doing enough to open windows and doors, to get water to people," says Cameron.
He asked if it was a lack of training or a failure of communication by conductors, who he says should have used their cell phones to contact Metro-North Railroad officials in the absence of a working intercom system.
