Metro-North Commuters Give Railroad Grade Of D+ In Online Survey
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - An online commuter survey has riders of Metro-North giving less than desirable marks to the railroad.
As WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau reported, more than 600 Metro-North riders took the survey which was posted online by the Commuter Action Group for a week.
Overall, they gave Metro-North a grade of D+.

Many said they noticed no improvement over the last few months and the most common complaint was late trains.
"Next biggest complaint was the lack of seating, poor communications," Jim Cameron with the Commuter Action Group told Schneidau. "It has been a horrible winter for commuters with many delays, lack of service, lack of heat on cars, etc. So I think that the overall grade of a D+ was not really surprising."

Cameron said most commuters said they have seen no improvement in rail service, while more than half of survey participants said they feel safe riding the train.
Metro-North got a new president earlier this year who promised to put safety ahead of timeliness in the wake of a number of derailments, crashes and fatal incidents.
While survey respondents put most of the blame to Metro-North, the Connecticut Department of Transportation and state lawmakers were also faulted for service problems, Schneidau reported.
Another survey is planned for June.
