Megabus Double-Decker Gets Wedged At Port Authority Bus Terminal Ramp
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It was a tough morning for commuters coming into the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Tuesday.
A MegaBus.com double-decker bus carrying 66 passengers got wedged under an overpass on a ramp at 40th Street around 7:45 a.m.
Two passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital, the company said.
The bus driver has been issued a summons, CBS 2 reported.
"Megabus.com is cooperating with officials and is carrying out its own internal investigation into this matter," company spokesman Mike Alvich said in a statement. "Megabus.com has placed the driver out-of-service, pending completion of the investigation."
The bus had left Pittsburgh at 11:45 p.m. Monday and stopped in State College, Pa. at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday. It was scheduled to arrive at 28th Street and Seventh Avenue at 8:30 a.m.
Passengers were removed from the disabled bus and taken to their designated arrival location, the company said.
The entrance to the terminal was briefly blocked by the bus, delaying other buses coming into the terminal.
"Megabus.com apologizes for any inconvenience to all affected by the delays in the area of the PABT," Alvich said.
The bus was later taken to a nearby garage.
