Man Accused Of Driving Drunk With Girl, 3, in Car On Meadowbrook State Pkwy.
EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was charged with driving drunk with three passengers in his car – including his 3-year-old daughter – on Long Island this weekend.
Around 9 p.m. Saturday, a New York State police trooper from the Valley Stream barracks saw a gray BMW X5 speeding on the northbound Meadowbrook State Parkway near Exit M5 in East Meadow, state police said.
State police pulled over the driver and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, state police said.
The driver – identified as Rafael Ramon, 42, of Baldwin – failed sobriety tests and was arrested on driving while intoxicated charges, state police said.
His 3-year-old daughter and two other passengers were in the vehicle, state police said.
Ramon's blood alcohol level came in at .12, state police said. He was ultimately charged with felony DWI under Leandra's Law due to the child in the vehicle.
