McKinney Opposes Malloy On Spending For Economic Revival
HARTFORD, CT (CBSNewYork) - Gov. Dan Malloy urges lawmakers to join him in building a full-scale economic revival in Connecticut and the governor wants legislative approval of more than $300 million in spending to achieve it.

Senate Republican leader John McKinney does not think Connecticut is on strong enough economic footing right to pull it off.
"I don't see the turnaround happening as fast as Gov. Malloy perhaps does," he said Thursday. "We cannot sustain this level of spending now. Just last week, we learned that housing sales, which are an important barometer of our economic performance, were the lowest at any time on record in the history of the state of Connecticut."
McKinney believes consolidating state agencies and privatizing more state services would provide the cuts needed to further balance the budget before moving on to higher spending.
