Mayweather Vs. Pacquiao Top 5 Moments
By Ryan Mayer, CBS Local Sports
The "Fight of the Century" is in the books. Floyd Mayweather is still undefeated at 48-0 after a unanimous decision win over Manny Pacquiao. The fight as expected was a glamorous affair and provided plenty of memorable moments let's run through a quick list of some of the best of the night.
5) McCarran International Airport Filled To Capacity
This tweet was posted around 4 hours before the fight started. Just take a look at the picture.
That's ridiculous. So just in case you're a celebrity who decided to be "fashionably late" to this party, you're not getting a spot there. Can you imagine the traffic getting out of there. Isn't the reason you take a private jet to avoid traffic? That tarmac is going to be worse than your favorite sports teams parking lot following a Game 7 in the playoffs.
4) Charles Barkley Reggie Miller Pre-Fight Interview
I couldn't find video of this unfortunately, I'm stunned no one recorded it. But this was priceless. The two NBA on TNT analysts had their arms draped around each other like a couple of frat guys while talking to Max Kellerman about the fight. Barkley refused to give a prediction but did take a shot at Max's TV co-host Marcellus Wiley saying Max was better looking. Just good old fashioned fun from two guys clearly enjoying themselves.
3) The fight crashed pay-per-view for 45 minutes
This was a source of frustration for people the world over as they attempted to order the fight last minute. According to the HBO/Showtime broadcast crew, the cable companies asked for more time before the fight started because they were dealing with such a large volume of orders. Why is this on the top 5 list you might ask? Here's why: The fight broke television for awhile. Do you realize how stunning that is? Multiple cable companies, not just one, had issues with the stream because of how many people were ordering the fight. That's ridiculous.
2) Jimmy Kimmel Walking Out With Manny Pacquiao
Hey who's that tall awkward guy in that hat behind Pacquiao…..Jimmy Kimmel? No. You're joking.
Yep Kimmel accompanied his good friend Manny to the ring. And it was fantastic.
1) The Fight Itself
Let's be honest here. We're all just happy that this fight after years of both sides pointing the finger and blaming each other, finally happened. It may not have been the most action packed. Mayweather is a very defensive fighter and he was able to set the tone. But the fight was exciting because we finally got to see these two titans of the sport clash and duke it out in the ring.
