Mayor Michael Bloomberg To Officiate At Staffers' Gay Marriage
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Mayor Michael Bloomberg will officiate at one of the city's first same-sex marriages -- the union of two top staffers in his administration.

Bloomberg spokesman Marc LaVorgna said the mayor plans to preside over the wedding of John Feinblatt, Bloomberg's chief policy adviser, and Department of Consumer Affairs Commissioner Jonathan Mintz. They've been together for 14 years and have two young daughters.
Mintz said growing up gay in Indiana, he never dreamed that one day he'd marry the man he loves and with the mayor performing the ceremony at Gracie Mansion.
"The idea that I would find love, kids, and a marriage let alone this kind of attention to these rights for other families, it's an incredible journey. It feels fantastic," Mintz told 1010 WINS' Stan Brooks. "If our wedding can be one of the ways that we really underscore what's happened to this state and what the mayor really believes in then I'm really proud and I was really touched when he offered to do this for our family."
The nuptials are planned for July 24. That is when the new state law legalizing gay marriage goes into effect.
Officials have said they expect a rush of interest on that Sunday, and New York City clerks' offices are taking the unusual step of opening on a day when government offices normally are closed.
