Matt Harvey To Start Thursday For Mets
NEW YORK (WFAN) - The New York Mets announced on their official Twitter account that Matt Harvey will be placed on the Mets' taxi squad on Monday and will start Thursday in Arizona.
The 23-year-old will fill the vacant slot in the Mets' rotation after Miguel Batista was designated for assignment. Their rotation is weakened as Johan Santana is currently on the disabled list.
Harvey is set to make his major league debut at Chase Field against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
At Triple-A Buffalo, Harvey is 7-5 in 20 appearances for the Bisons. He's pitched 110 innings, surrendered 45 earned runs and has an ERA of 3.68.
With the Mets losing 9 of their last 10 games, fans will be looking forward to seeing a young starter like Harvey this opportunity in the big leagues.
Can Harvey give the Mets a shot in the arm? Or is he not ready for the majors. Let us know...
