Massive Brawl Breaks Out At Danbury Fair Mall In Connecticut
DANBURY, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- An investigation was underway Friday night after a brawl broke out inside the Danbury Fair Mall, resulting in a large police presence on the busiest shopping day of the year.
According to police, a fight involving up to 20 people erupted in the food court, forcing Black Friday shoppers to panic and start running. Exacerbating the problem, police said, was the fact that someone yelled "gun," even though officers later confirmed there were no shots fired nor a weapon found at the scene.
"Me and my friend were coming and we saw people running out and screaming and stuff. We just saw a bunch of people running in an out. That's all we saw," one teen shopper said.
There were no injuries and no immediate word on arrests.
The mall was not evacuated or locked down. Some store owners chose to lock their stores out of precaution, police said.
The Danbury Fair Mall is the second-largest mall in Connecticut and the fifth largest in New England.
