Massapequa Man Missing After Swimming In Unguarded Section Of Jones Beach
OYSTER BAY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A 47-year-old Massapequa man is missing after going for a swim at Jones Beach.
Raymond Roth went into the ocean on Saturday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. near Field 6, his family said. The area was not protected by lifeguards.
The family told police that Roth is a good swimmer, and that he swims at that location every day. Authorities spent the evening looking for him with the help of helicopters and divers.
A lifeguard was issued a summons for an obstruction charge for apparently refusing to answer questions from police officers.
