Marine Proposes To Girlfriend In Front Of Audience At Broadway Musical 'Anything Goes'

NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- The cast of the Broadway musical "Anything Goes" paused at their curtain call Saturday afternoon so a Fleet Week couple could take the stage.

That was the perfect backdrop for Marine Captain Zubah Koweh to surprise his girfriend, Navy Ensign Amy Sullivan, with a marriage proposal before an audience of a thousand people.

"But through it all, I recognized one thing and that is that I'd like to spend the rest of my life with you," Koweh said to Sullivan as he got down on one knee.

Her answer? Yes, of course.

Captain Koweh said waiting for the show to end was the longest two hours of his life. "Well I'm speechless," he said. "At least it's over with, I can breathe a little bit."

Sullivan said she had no idea the proposal was coming. "I thought we were going to see a show," she said, adding the proposal couldn't have been better.

The proposal took place at the Stephen Sondheim theater on 43rd Street in Manhattan. The couple met two years ago on the USS Nassau.
