Manhunt Continues For Suspects In Englewood Cliffs Home Invasion
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS (CBSNewYork) -- A manhunt continues in New Jersey for a team of robbery suspects who police said attacked a woman in a home invasion.
It happened around 1 p.m. Thursday at a house on Leighton Street in Englewood Cliffs.
Investigators said the suspects posed as utility workers to make their way inside the victim's home.
"They said they were there to fix a gas leak. Then she opened the door. They had some type of mask on and they had a gun pointed at her," said Englewood Cliffs Police Chief Michael Cioffi.
The men then forced their way inside where investigators said they pushed the victim down a flight of stairs and started ransacking her home, looking for cash and jewelry.
Neighbor Linda Kalayjian thinks she may have seen the suspects moments before the attack.
"There was a car that pulled up, a man got out of the car with like an orange vest that said contractor and was walking around looking," she said. "It definitely seemed a little weird."
And weird to other neighbors too who saw unfamiliar cars outside the victim's home and called police.
The suspects then took off, leading police on a chase that ended when the Dodge Avenger they were in hit a curb. Officers nabbed two suspects from the car, but three others, including Isiah Freeman and Jory Powell, got away.
Police were able to recover some of the victim's money and jewelry.
The investigation is ongoing.
