Manhole Explosions Rock Brooklyn Neighborhood
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - "Not too loud. But we heard it. It was like a pop, pop," said one man of the manhole explosions Thursday morning.

In the murky lull after the morning rain, the FDNY was out along a four-block stretch of Joralemon Street in Brooklyn Heights.
Battalion Chief Bill Falkenmayer says it was fire from below.
"We had fire out of two transformer volts. We had fire out of a sewer grate on the corner. And we had a couple blown sewer covers," Falkenmayer told WCBS 880 reporter Paul Murnane.
The lights stayed on.
Falkenmayer says there were no injuries and no sign of toxic fumes in surrounding basements and buildings.
But there is the odor. It's somewhere between burning leaves and plastic that not even a stiff, muggy breeze can bud.
