Man To Be Reunited With Stolen Jaguar Convertible 46 Years Later
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Talk about a hot rod. A classic Jaguar convertible that was stolen 46 years ago outside of a Manhattan apartment building has been found.
Ivan Schneider, now 82, had the Jag for just six months before it was snatched.
In August, he got a call from customs in Los Angeles. The car was in a crate on a cargo ship headed for the Netherlands.
Schneider, who has since retired and moved to Florida, thought that the car was gone for good.
"I was heartbroken to say the least. Never in anybody's lifetime did I think I'd see that car," he said, "I still don't believe it. It's a miracle."
Schneider says he's going to have the Jag shipped for a restoration that he thinks will cost about $100,000.
