Man Taken To Hospital After Walking Into Side Of Moving Train In NJ
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a man wearing headphones unwittingly walked into the side of a moving train in northern New Jersey, but escaped with only minor injuries.
New Jersey Transit Spokesman John Durso Jr. tells The Jersey Journal that the man, whose name was not disclosed, was alert while being treated at the scene for facial cuts. He was later taken to a hospital for further evaluation, but details on his condition were not disclosed.
The accident occurred around 8:15 p.m. Friday in Jersey City, in the area of Essex and Van Vorst streets. Durso said officials believe the man did not see the light rail train approaching and -- due to his headphones -- did not hear it.
No passengers on the train were injured in the accident.
