Man Struck, Killed While Trying To Cross Belt Parkway
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was struck and killed early Saturday on the Belt Parkway in southern Brooklyn.
Police were dispatcher at 4:45 a.m. to the eastbound Belt Parkway near Coney Island Avenue, between exits 7 and 8. They found the man unconscious and unresponsive at the scene with trauma to his body.
Police learned that the man had been struck by a gray sedan that was headed east on the Belt Parkway. The victim as trying to cross the expressway at the time, police said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His identity had not been released Saturday afternoon.
The driver remained at the scene following the accident, police said. The investigation continued Saturday afternoon.
Police did not indicate why the man was trying to cross an expressway on foot.
