Man Struck, Killed In Hit-And-Run In Highland Park In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was struck and killed by a vehicle in a hit-and-run Sunday afternoon in Highland Park, on the cusp of Brooklyn and Queens.
Around 1:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a person struck by a vehicle near Highland Boulevard and Vermont Place in the middle of the park. The accident scene sits in the East New York section of Brooklyn, just on the cusp of the Glendale section of Queens.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim, a 42-year-old man, unresponsive. Paramedics took him to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Police learned that he victim was walking south on Vermont Place, when he was struck by a white vehicle headed west on westbound Highland Boulevard. The offending driver did not stop, police said.
Witnesses told CBS 2 the offending vehicle was a Lincoln Town Car livery cab.
Police have been inspecting white vehicles at car services in the area.
