Man Struck, Injured By NJ Transit Train
PLAINFIELD, N.J. (AP) -- New Jersey Transit says a man was critically injured early Saturday when he was struck by a train in northern New Jersey.
Agency spokesman Dan Stessel says the victim, identified only as a 33-year-old Plainfield man, stepped into the path of a Raritan Valley Line train around 1 a.m. as it neared the Plainfield station.
The man was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition on Saturday. But further details on his injuries were not disclosed.
Stessel said the train had left Newark Penn Station about an hour before the man was struck, and no passengers onboard were injured. They were later transferred to another train to complete their trip.
