Man Stabbed On PATH Train During Evening Rush
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was stabbed and wounded on a PATH train beneath the streets of Chelsea during the evening rush Tuesday.
The stabbing happened around 5:40 p.m. on a moving southbound PATH train between 33rd and 23rd streets, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police told CSB2.
The victim, a 38-year-old man, was stabbed once in the torso by a man he did not know, police said. The suspect got off the train at 23rd Street and ran off on foot, police said.
Riders were already frustrated by a delay in service caused by a stalled train. The stabbing left some of those riders shaken.
"The fact that you could be in the next car and not even notice it, or at the next stop and not even notice it. It's such a terrifying random coincidence, and it happens just like that," one woman told 1010 WINS' Kevin Rincon.

As of early Tuesday evening, there had been no arrests in the case and the motive for the stabbing was not known.
