Man Shot, Wounded In Subway Station In Prospect Park South, Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Monday afternoon were searching for a man who shot and wounded a 24-year-old man on a subway platform in Prospect Park South, Brooklyn.
As CBS 2's Sonia Moghe reported, sources said around 2 p.m. Tuesday, the man was shot once in the torso in the Church Avenue B and Q Line station, at Church Avenue and East 18th Street.
Security footage from the nearby Church Avenue convenience store showed men and women running for their lives after hearing gunshots fired.
James Kim, who works at a liquor store on the street, told CBS 2 what he heard.
"Actually we heard the three gunshots, and then we were looking right out," Kim said. "We saw the man running to, you know, 18th Street."
Police said they are looking for a man in a red jumpsuit who fled the scene. Detectives were looking at several shell casings outside the subway station, and investigators were looking inside as well.
Kim said he hoped the man who was shot will survive.
"We knew he got shot in the belly, but later on he was walking into the ambulance," Kim said.
Kim said he was surprised to hear shots in the area.
"This area before was a little dangerous, but now all the cops are around," he said.
Kim said he believes there was a police officer in the subway station when the shots broke out, and saw him run out immediately.
