Man Shot In Head Outside Crown Heights Deli; Police Seek 4 Suspects
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Saturday asked for the public's help in finding four men, one of whom shot and wounded a deli customer in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
The shooting happened at 2:40 a.m. Friday at 43 Lincoln Rd. in Brooklyn, close to Prospect Park. The victim, a 60-year-old man, walked up to the service window of the deli just before the robbers arrived.
Samuel Jackie Waterman, 60, bought something and left, but the suspects followed him. One of them fired a shot him in the head, they all fled in an unknown direction.
Waterman was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was last reported in critical condition, police said.
Waterman works as a baggage handler at Kennedy Airport, his family and neighbors described him as a friendly, hardworking man.
One of the suspects was described as being between 25 and 30 years old, and was last seen wearing a black and gray striped hoodie, black jeans with black and white sneakers.
Another was in his 20s, and was last seen wearing an Adidas shirt and black and white sneakers.
No age estimate was provided for the other two suspects. One was wearing a black and red lumberjack jacket with white sneakers, and the other was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and white and black sneakers.
Police have released video of the suspects.
