Man Shot Dead On Bloomfield, N.J., Street

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Bloomfield, N.J., were investigating a shooting that left a man dead early Saturday.

Police were sent to the 500 block of Beardsley Avenue just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday, after reports that a 24-year-old man had been shot at the location, according to Bloomfield police and the Essex County Prosecutor's office.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterward, police said.

The man's identity had not been released as of mid-afternoon Sunday.
