Man Shot Dead In Suspected Landlord-Tenant Fight In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man was shot and killed in the East New York section of Brooklyn Sunday afternoon, in what police said may have been a landlord-tenant dispute.
Police were sent at 1:05 p.m. to 566 Shepherd Ave. in Brooklyn. They found the 51-year-old victim at the scene with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The man -- identified as Luis Martinez of the Shepherd Avenue address -- was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
A 63-year-old man was arrested on site, police said.
Police did not provide further details, other than the suspicion that a landlord-tenant dispute was suspected.
A New York Daily News report said Martinez, a tenant in the building, pulled a gun and fired at his landlord in a fight over rent. The landlord wrestled the gun away and shot Martinez in the chest, leaving him dead, the newspaper reported.
The victim's identity had not been released as of Sunday evening, pending family notification.
The investigation into the homicide continued Sunday evening.
