Man Shot Dead In Clinton Hill, Brooklyn Diner; Suspect Charged
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A suspect was charged with murder Sunday night, after a man was found shot to death inside a diner in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn.
Just after 5 a.m. Sunday, police came to 887 Fulton St., at Vanderbilt Avenue, after a call of shots fired in the Country House Diner at the address. The two-story building also houses the Raif Atelier and Swagga 360 clothing stores on its lower level, with apartments above.
Upon arriving, police found Jason Lewis, 34, of Brooklyn, with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Lewis was taken to the Brooklyn Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
A suspect was taken into custody at the scene. The suspect -- Tyrone Gainer, 27, of Brooklyn -- was later charged with murder, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of a firearm, police said.
Police have not released further details. But DNAInfo reported witnesses said the victim died trying to stop a fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend in the restaurant.
Lewis was a regular breakfast customer at the Country House Diner, the publication reported.
