Man Sentenced In 2001 Shooting Death Of Pregnant Woman
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A man accused of murdering a pregnant woman in her upper Manhattan apartment was sentenced Wednesday.
As WCBS 880's Irene Cornell reported, Alejo Polanco was sentenced to 27 years in prison for shooting and killing Liliana Colmenares during a botched robbery in 2001.

Colmenares was five months pregnant at the time.
Palanco was allegedly part of a crew that specialized in home invasion robberies of narcotics traffickers, Cornell reported.
The case remained cold for more than a decade, but as Cornell reported, a continued investigation by federal narcotics agents solved the case.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Polanco's co-defendant in the case, Emilino Vasquez was sentenced to 22 years in June 2014 for his role in the murder.
