Man Pleads Guilty In Random Killing Of Queens Immigrant
NEW YORK (AP/CBSNewYork) -- The Queens district attorney said Monday a man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for a random attack on a woman as she walked home from grocery shopping last May in Flushing.
Carlos Salazar Cruz faces 22 years to life in prison when he is sentenced on March 28.
Authorities said Cruz struck the victim's head with a pipe and dragged her by the hair into an alleyway.
Chinese immigrant Yu Yao, 23, suffered a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and lower-body trauma. She died later at a hospital.
