NYPD: Officer Shoots Armed Man In Stairwell In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 25-year-old man was shot and critically wounded by an officer in Queens after he pointed his own gun at cops in a housing project stairwell, police said.
It happened just after midnight Saturday at a building on Beach Channel Drive in Belle Harbor.

Police responded to 911 call of an assault inside the building.
Four uniformed officers entered the building's lobby and heard screaming coming from a stairwell, police said.
When the officers entered the stairwell and saw an armed man, police said.
They ordered him to drop his weapon, but police said he ran up the stairs and then pointed his gun at the officers.
One officer fired and hit the man in the torso. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition.
A 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene.
