Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Shooting Outside Paterson Bar

PATERSON, N.J. (AP) -- Attempted murder charges have been filed against a New Jersey man accused of shooting another man outside a Paterson bar.

Nineteen-year-old Cesar Delacruz-Almonte of Paterson also faces aggravated assault and weapons charges in connection with the early Sunday shooting.

Police say the 30-year-old victim and another man entered the bar around 2:30 a.m., but soon left after the victim was pushed by someone. They were then followed outside and the brawl ensued.

A police officer who was on patrol nearby heard several shots and pulled into the parking lot. The victim, who was shot in the left arm, approached the officer and claimed Delacruz-Almonte had shot him.

Carlos Garcia-Almonte of York, Pa., was also charged with aggravated assault. Authorities say the suspects are related, though their exact relationship is unclear.
