According to police, the incident happened around 10:30 Saturday morning at the company's DUMBO recycling plant at 135 Plymouth Street.
Police say 18-year-old Luis Camarillo, of the Bronx, was working in the back of the truck when the truck's compactor came down and struck him in the torso. He was pronounced dead at Long Island College Hospital.
Police and the federal Occupational Health and Safety Administration are investigating the accident.
OSHA compliance officer Robert Stewarts told the New York Post that he is reviewing surveillance video at the plant.
